The Servant of One Master

WINNING BACK LOST TERRITORY

Faith Driven Investors are people who operate in close proximity to money, and thus within earshot of the whisperings and power of Mammon. We do so with the goal of taking back territory from the false promises of fungible, storable, accountable power. The mission of such men and women is to reclaim this world for the relational, creation-loving God who we serve.

Investing focuses on the deployment of many kinds of resources, but especially financial ones, to have some sort of generative impact or influence in the world. As Faith Driven Investors, we are aware of "the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of riches" that might otherwise hold us back from a return of 100, 60 or 30 fold. Our calling is greater than to simply apply certain minimal ethical standards to the way we use money.

As our friend Andy Crouch says, we cannot serve both Mammon and God—two fundamentally opposed forces in the world. Mammon is a demon that wants to destroy a person's relationship to creation itself. The one true God wants to reunite people, restore relationships, and liberate creation from its bondage to decay.

USING SCRIPTURE AS OUR GUIDE

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Matthew 19:24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.

Matthew 22:21 “Then he said to them, ‘So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.’
